a theme

As Khumbelo suggested we have a new theme, he calls,  "Zoom/Burst". I think photographs in this case speak louder than words:

Z+B 20
Z+B 30

The technique is like this (and this is my best explanation, please feel to elaborate further and better):

  1. set exposure to anything larger than say 3";
  2. set your zoom fully in (or out)
  3. click/shoot;
  4. whilst the lens is still exposed zoom in the opposite direction (out or in) to what you set in (2);

What you think? I set theme for one day, from a month from now. I know its too far, but I think we need to give ourselves time to find perfect moments to our imagination.

1ove, collaborates.

    @KK: Yes sir!

  4. Uno

    Damn, I'm using a fixed 50mm...

  5. lebogang nkoane

    but, you have a month to appropriate the required tools for the task :-)

  6. sfiso

    Zoom with your feet!

  7. Uno

    @lebogang: I don't normally let the tools dictate the way photography takes me, it's more about head / space and the frame / comp that best suits the mood.

    I would even go as far as saying that I don't look at the camera as a tool, more as a companion whose qualities and limitations give it its personality... not to say that sometimes I can't surround myself by several companions, but most of the time I enjoy the dynamic duo set up: the way my companion teaches me to see the world and how I challenge its limitations and make the most of its qualities...

    I'll still be open to how things shape up in the next month or so...

    Ah. I hear you.

    There is a technique I've planning to try out. It's risky; not-quite similar to this but it's like this.

    1. +6" exposure;
    2. click/shoot;
    3. throw the camera into the air;
    4. catch it (hopefully)

  9. Uno

    Hmmm, I would need to wear a hard hat for that one... my Pentax is solid steel and weighs more than a kilo... it is bound to make some kind of damage to whatever body part it hits first...
    Here's another experiment: make a padded lightweight box for your camera, attach it to some helium balloons set it up on timer and let it fly... just don't drop the rope or infringe on someone's air space / privacy.

    Made that should be our next theme, no?

  11. Uno

    This should help a bit:

  12. sfiso

    Yo can we extend the them to the whole week maybe? so we can upload more than 1 shot

  13. lebogang nkoane

    Ok. How 'about 15th to the 19th?
